Gta v graphics hardware question

I recently purchased GTA V for PC. I have an ati 5770 1gb graphics card, 4gb ddr2 ram and 2.93ghz core 2 duo. I can play the game with medium settings ok with an alright framerate. Would upgrading to a 2gb graphics card help improve settings and frame rates or do I need to get a whole new CPU and ram etc to play with better frame rates?

You'll run it on low settings probably. But not much better. You'd need to upgrade your whole system to be able to play the game comfortably at high settings.

Faster GPU bottlenecked by the C2D.
Faster CPU bottlenecked by the 5770.

As above you're pretty much looking at a new system. Also, vram is not the sole factor in graphics card performance.
