GTS or go for the GTX?

Basically I was gonna get a new computer with a GTS 250 but I heard they really arent that good and I dont know if they can handle max resolution on most games. Basically I was just wondering if its worth it to go from a GTS 250 to a GTX 260 or so. Or if this is an obvious choice for most of you, is it time to switch to ATI?

GTX 260 still maxes most games I play at 1680x1050 few games like GTAIV nothing can truly max.....yet.

If you want something more future proof you will want to look into say a 5850 but its $300ish.
You buy a new PC with another SLI board get a 4870 1GB or GTX 260 and SLI/Crossfire it when you need the extra power. This way you but it now for $140-160 and in 6 months if you need more you can buy a second for $90 or so.

DX11 is not a real factor as most games wont really use it till at least July if not later. Took 1 year for a TRUE DX10 game to come out. (Halo was not real DX10) by that time the better DX11 cards will be out.

i would go with the gtx 260 over the gts250

if you have a microcenter around you can get the 260 for the same price as the 250
