GTX 260 or 4870??

Hi, im building a gaming system but dont know what to get. Should i either get the GTX 260 or the 4870? This is a hard decision, but i think i'd go with the 4879 since its just cheaper . Please help me choose between the two. Thanks!
 
Well I personally, out of those two, would go for the 4870 simply because it's cheaper (those cards perform about the same), and also way outperforms any NVIDIA card when you crank up the AA. If you've heard bad stuff about their drivers, that's not really a valid reason not to go 4870 anymore as the drivers have matured a fair bit...
 
I have seen the 4870 1GB DDR5 model in action and it is a beast, and didn't break a sweat with pumped up graphics on my 22 inch widescreen monitor too. Too bad it was a build for someone else rig and not my own! The 4850 is a great card also.

Ive been running a 4870 for the past couple of weeks and have never looked back! Its a great card!
 
From all the numbers I have seen lately the HD 4870 1 gb =260 -216 =gtx 280.they are all pretty much equal regardless what different brand fan boys tell you .In some games the some of the cards are better than the other brand ,model.So i would choose based on which games you plan on getting and whichever card has the best deal.Anyway you go you will be pretty happy with your choice I think.I believe the 260-216 that includes the free game and rebate ,cant remember which brand it was;is probably the most bang for your buck now depending on your choice in games.
