gtx 260 vs 280

The price difference is large, but is the performance enough to make up for it? I'm making a new comp and im try to make it insane in the graphics department without going overboard in the $$$ dept. I'd appreciate your views on both and which one has better SLI potential if they even need to be. THanks.

Ok well, I'll say this. The GTX 280 is quite a bit better than the GTX 260.

BUT

The Radeon 4870 is better than the GTX 260 and breathes down the neck of the GTX 280.

i was thinking about it but I know that ATI doesnt rly have a good track record with "working" cards ie drivers and such. Will this card have any affect on DX9 games? I have a 9600gt atm and was wondering if I wud see an eye popping difference.
