gtx 260... wanting sli

hi, my friend has a gtx 260 he bought around christmas time and it was orange and black made by evga. but it has been discontinued everywhere. newegg, tiger, ebay. so now they have the gtx 260's in black. so i dont know if it will work. please check. i would send links but i cant cause there arent any of the older version. here are pictures: one he currently owns: http://www.evga.com/articles/images/414_header.jpg

another problem is that his currrent card is NOT core 216. so help. thanks

using different manufactures of same card will not do any harm. i seen some computer rigs xfireing a hd4870 with 3870 and no ill effects.

That's the single biggest mistake I've ever heard of... Seriously.


But SLi with the same card series (two GTX260's) will be fine. As long as it's not a GTX260 with another card such as a GTX 280 or a 9800GTX+.
