I just put in my two GTX 285's I got for my birthday ^_^ Waiting for the crysis 1.2 patch to download and once I get it installed I'm going to see how well I can perform. I'm pretty sure that my Q6600 will bottleneck me until I can buy a TRUE and OC it over 3Ghz. The most I can do with my current heatsink is 2.9Ghz.

It probably will bottleneck somewhat, but not nearly as much as if you had say, a dual core. BTW time to update your sig;)

I played it with everything maxed out, 16Q AA with V sync and at 1680x1050 I got 24 FPS average. I saw a benchmark on crysis a while ago and apparently very high is where the CPU starts to play a big role in the game so hopefully an overclocking of my Q6600 will show improvement.

mhm...24fps...i am willing to bet that if you take down your AA from 16Q AA to 2x or 4x, you will barely notice ANY difference if not none in quality and will gain a massive boost in fps!! Cause u have 24fps average then I can't imaging how low it would be during a big battle...what 10fps probably? your AA is killing you!

On my low-end video card, World of Warcraft with full AA made it unplayable. When I lowered it by just a bit the frame rate doubled, sometimes tripled...

Just my own personal example. And of course I noticed no difference in the quality of the game...

I know that I don't need to be playing it with full AA I was just wanted to see how well my computer would perform with it.

I currently have a thermaltake V1 cooler and I can get to 2.9ghz while maxing out at 60C during max load but I need to bump up the voltage a decent amount to push just that little extra amount to get to 3ghz and then my temps jump to 80C max load. I think I'll just OC it to 2.9ghz again until I can get my TRUE.

Odd, i wouldnt expect temps that high from that cooler. You sure thermal paste is on right and its mounted correctly? Also, might wanna look at a megahalem over a true;)

Well I haven't seen how a TRUE performs on a nehalem so I'll have to look into this more. Thanks.
THat second link showed comparisons of temperatures to a true on a 920, they even manage to go from 4.5some ghz to just over 4.6ghz with it over a true. Im thinking about grabbing one and putting the wcing loop i was thinking of building on hold for awhile.

Let em rip...they will shut down if they overheat:D Crank them up with the voltage tuner and overclock the crap out of them! See what they can do. Lifetime warranty with eVGA...are you scared?

At full load, at least I think I was playing crysis so I'm not sure if my GPU's can even do full load with my CPU bottlenecking, one got up to 71C and the other 78C. For some reason the fan speed stayed at 40% so I turned it up to 62% so we'll see what happens.

Right now my CPU is at 2.9ghz and I have seen some improvement on crysis. I hope to get it to 3.4Ghz with a new heatsink next week.
