Pretty much everybody should know my deal by know... (thats bad....)

I just want a DX11 card (I have no idea if new games HAVE to run on DX11...)
But the main reason I'm going Nvidia over ATI is because of CUDA >.> I might buy like a 9600Gt or 8800GT for PhysX, but I'm not sure.

I haven't built the machine yet, so don't ask for PSU or anything along the lines like that. The way its going I'm going to have to go AMD, or save more and get the i5-750.

To an extent....the thing is, for only ~$30-40 bucks more, you get a heck of alot more card for the money with the 1GB version.(30 ROPs vs 24, 256bit memory bus vs 192bit).

with my gtx 460 768mb im getting 45fps on battlefield bad company 2 with every thing maxed out running dx11.

i have overclocked mine up to 800mhz/2000

going sli once my new mobo comes

but like bomber says get the 1gb if you can afford the little extra

I don't plan on playing that many modern games, but whatever. I think nvidia made a huge mistake not making low and middle end DX11 Cards like ATi. Although I prefer Nvidia's CUDA and PhysX, I think ATi Has a better lineup, and their shrouds are more appealing to me :P

ATI didnt have mid/low end cards at launch either. Fermi came out quite a bit later than the radeons did, also, not much use in making DX11 mid range, since at the same price there are still excellent deals on DX10 cards, and you can't really take alot of advantage from DX11 on a cheap card.

With a cheap card, more than likely all you would be doing is playing older games, or building a HTPC.

Do new games need to run on DX11?

if not, I'll buy a cheap temp card to play my older games on. (Like a 9600GT / 9800GT / GT 240 / GTS 250?)

My last question at the moment is, How well will the listed cards run games like NFSMW, NFSU2, GTA San Andreas, Battle Field 2: MC, etc.?

I'm pretty sure they will run just fine.

I wouldnt reccommend the 460 its not good value, especially if you aren't playing modern games, plus what resoulution will you be using?

i was really partial to performance on the 5850s now im really beginning to consider these 1GB gtx460s, but my two 9800s are still holding me over, and i dont exactly have money for it right now... my radio controlled car hobby is eating a little money right now too ._.

I always like to use ATI cards with AMD processors, but like I said, nvidia has CUDA and PhysX. I don't plan on running 3 monitors, but if I were going to, I would get two cards a little lower down the line than the 460, and run them in SLI. hopefully, Nvidia makes some low and middle end cards when their next series is out.

GTS 450 is coming out in september. apparently it's a 5770 competitor, as it's 128bit/GDDR5, which is what the 5770 has and seems to pair up nicely.

yea i agree with bomber...its a solid card to buy, i would not see a reason to go with something more expensive unless you have money to burn
