Hey Everyone. I have been thinking about moving up to a better video card in the near future. I have been looking at the 5830, 5850, and the GTX 470? So far I have been thinking about getting the 470 but I want to get all of your opinions on it.

The other thing that I have to consider is that my power supply is am Antec 650W Here is the link for more info:

Would this be enough?

Thanks for the input!

The PSU will be enough for any of those cards.

I would personally go with the 470 in this case. Unless you can afford to bump it up to the 5870, then I would go with that.

to be honest I would go with the 5870 or 5850. they run cooler, quieter, and draw less power. the 5870 dominates the 470 and the 5850 beats it most of the time. But the 470 has better tessellation

Thanks for the replies.

I like the 5870 but it is more than the 470. Seems that if the performance is the same I should get the one that is less money.

One other question that I had is, are there a lot of games that will use the features of nvidia's 400 series? Has ATI implemented any of those in theit cards? I won't be using a multiple monitor setup so eyefility is not a huge deciding factor for me.

Here is the review that I read about it.

last thing. The power consumption for any of the cards is not a big deal for me as long as it can be powered by my current psu. I just don't want to have to upgrade.

Well, the 5850 is pretty similar in performance to the 470, and beats it in alot of scenarios, the 5870 beats the 470 in pretty much all scenarios except under heavy tessellation. Both the ATi and nVidia cards are directX 11, however, with nvidia you would get the added benefit of PhysX(list of games with PhysX support may be found here.)

Thanks for the link. There are a lot fewer games that use PhysX than I thought. I'll keep that in mind
