Hey i bought 580 and lot people say 6970 is way better choice, i wonder why and why is 6970 so cheap then ?
I could buy 7970 for same price that i paid 580.

The 580 does give a better performance, but given the price/performance ratio the 6970 is a way better choice.

in my personal opinion, a AMD HD**** is never a better choice. This is brand preference.

However, I do believe, and you might have to check for sure, that the HD6970 is on par with a GTX560ti or something and the 570 and 580 are ahead of it by a fair amount.

Bottom line, keep your 580 is in a solid second place in top performance. GTX will take back dominance when Kepler is released.

The 6950 is slightly faster then the GTX 560Ti. The 6970 and GTX 570 trade blows. The GTX 580 is faster then the 6950/6970 and GTX 570. The 7970 is faster then all of them.

Yeah, would rather have a GTX 580 over a 6970. But they are 100 bucks more, so its kinda stupid to compare them. If buying a card right now, I would take a 7950 over either one.

that is you, a 580 will still murder most games, and AMD takes a pretty big hit in BF3, so I think it would level out.

Thats me, what does that mean? It wins or it doesnt, why does it matter who it is? The 7950 beats the GTX 580 90% of the time. Even in BF3 it ties the GTX 580 at 1280/1024 1680/1050 and beats it at above that. The 7970 beats it period at anything.

So its still worth for me to do SLI 2x 580 ? and does the both cards have to be exactly same ? because I got Gigabyte GeForce GTX 580 1536MB PhysX with 3x windforce dunno if worth geting same is worth.

I'd just wait. Kepler is supposed to be out some time around March. What could happen:

GTX 6xx blows 79xx out of the water
GTX 6xx is equal to 79xx
GTX 6xx not as good as 79xx

Situation 1: 79xx gets price drops to compete
Situation 2: Both may get slight price drops
Situation 3: GTX 6xx gets released at a lower price point

Just wait and weigh up your options once the new cards are out. In the mean time, enjoy your GTX 580.

What it means is that he already has a 580. While you would spend another 500+ to get a slight increase, he probably wont want to.

GTX580s in SLI is a very good choice, however I agree with Strangle, the 7950 is a great card

BUT

AMD is rubbish at CF support, so if you plan on getting another, I would stick with the 580s.

BTW, to the OP ihave the same cards. You wil need to watercool them if you plan on using them in SLI without a full slot's room in between.
