gtx 670 manufacturers decision

Hi,

So I've been bombarded with bunch of opinions from other forums, and been told various sides of the argument.

I've been waiting for the EVGA GTX 670 FTW for about 3.5 weeks, and starting to get annoyed. So I thought about changing it for another manufacturer's card.

MSI Power Edition
ASUS Direct CU II (TOP not available)

Those are the ones come to my mind but I thought the FTW would outperform both in terms of performance and noise level.

Could you guys please tell me what's right and wrong? People are telling me the MSI Power Edition is far superior in every aspect compared to that of the EVGA's FTW edition.

Thanks in advance,

Same performance, different cooler, that is pretty much it. I would take the EVGA stock because of better warrant and support, especially when compared to Asus support which is a pile of crap. There is no point in getting the factory overclocked cards either. You are paying extra cash for a small overclock that you could to yourself for free on the stock cards

Thanks, and apparently MSI Has a RMA center in Vancouver which will be easier for me to deal with returns and what not.

Also, I got the FTW version simply because it was selling lower than the normal GTX 670.... which didn't make sense but the very reason why it's taking so long to ship one out to me T_T

All 3 are oc editions. I heard evga is a good brand for nvidea cards, my second choice is the asus.
Noise doesn't make sense if you play with music on, take one with 2 fans.
There won't be much difference between them btw...

than the evga one?

I bought the EVGA GTX 670, and EVGA is 15 mins. from my house. I took it back and got the Gigabyte because it runs cooler and easier to clean. Just my .02. The EVGA uses the reference design and Gigabyte puts on a aftermarket cooler.

Not that I don't believe you, but you can refer to previous comments on how MSI and EVGA can outperform its competitors and now you're saying Gigabyte is the coolest.

I'm so confused now lol

Both MSI and Gigabyte have better coolers than the reference design. If I remember correctly both are on a redesigned PCB. So Both will be cool but in my opinion MSI cards are built with better components and will OC further.

I would get the EVGA card if you are not going for a maximum OC. If you are looking to OC and possibly overvolt the card I would go for the MSI with the Twin Frozr 4 cooler.

No, I don't think I will be OCing it at all. So do I still need a cooler for the GPU?

It would be better temp wise but no it is not necessary, GTX 670s do not have a problem with overheating as far as I know. Just to be clear you can still OC on cards that do not have a bigger cooler like the MSI and Gigabyte cards it will just have a higher temperatures.

My GTX 670 FTW arrived last saturday, and even under load... dead silent. With 3 games playnig at once (Diablo 3, Aion, Talesweaver - some korean game, each taking up more than 1 GB of RAM), I only reach 63C for my GPU, and my CPU doesn't go over 45C.

I can't stress enough of how SILENT the video card is as if it's actually not there. Like, no exaggeration intended whatsoever, zero noise under load, ZERO.

I also tested with Borderlands 2 with all settings maxed out to its extremes, and no noise still

Awesome, so is it the EVGA FTW edition or another brand?
