I just set up my 2560x1440 monitor and i can verify without a doubt that these cards perform much better at the higher resolution. just a quick fyi in case anyone was considering purchasing these monsters.
you need two more 1440p monitors bro
Did you say 690 quad sli! That's like $4000 +

Is this just a brilliant thing you just found out that two GTX 690 work well at higher resolution? Did you know that a Lamborghini does well at high speeds? Duh!
I'm willing to bet 3 7970s would beat it at high resolutions due to its higher memory bus. But yeah, I laughed pretty good at this comment.
somehow i doubt that
A 4th video card of any kind will not help you that much. It gives you diminishing returns. A 7970 ghz edition is beating 680s. Combine that with a much faster memory bus, it will get better framerates at, say, 2560x1440. Kind of regret my 670 now.

I dont. I like the feeling of having HALF the SPs with the same if not better performance (680 in my case).
I'm not saying I totally regret it. I mean, I play all my games at full settings at great framerates. Its just the feeling knowing that the higher memory bandwidth is out there... But oh well, I'm just nitpicking.
