GTX295 Question

You think that I will need to upgrade anything else in my system to run the GTX295 properly? Upgrade processor, PSU, ram, etc...?

How do I tell if my PSU has the 2 six pin cables that I need for the GPU?

What is the amps on your PSU?

Looks like it will be good long as your PSU isn't crappy. My corsair 750w is 60A and could handle a 4870x2 with my rig. If that helps you at all :)

You should be fine though. the EVGA version of the card said this.

Minimum of a 680 power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 46 Amp Amps.)
An available 6 pin PCI-E power connector and an available 8 pin PCI-E power connector

You look.

Mine comes with 4 8pins that break into 6 pins if needed. Yours should be similar.

Apparently my PSU doesn't have any straight 8 pin connectors. How bad is it to convert from a 6 pin to 8 pin for a card as power as the GTX 295?

Ah I hate your PSU it has split rails ^-^

It should be fine but make sure the rails are spread even...aka don't load it all on rail 1...or it will be unstable. Sort it between the 3 rails.

I was told by a eVGA rep that the GTX 295 might actually perform WORSE than my current setup due to WoW"s lack of SLi compatibility?!

Anyone have any real world experience with this?!

What card do you currently have? The GTX 295 has two slightly downclocked GTX 280 GPUs in it, so unless you have a GTX 280/285 or an ATI equivalent I don't see how you can lose performance.

I have an 8800GTS G92 model. But he said because WoW has poor compatibility with SLi cards, i'll probably see a decrease in performance. I would have to turn half the card off in order for it to see an improvement over my current setup. No idea how true that, but I ordered the card anyway! We'll see how it goes!

Well you shouldn't buy a GTX295 for WoW...unless your playing on a 27inch+ monitor/TV.

Also yes WoW does not use SLI. I can max it out @ 1440x900 with a 8800GT
