Kind of an old post, but figured I'd reply anyway.
Although I have only played the trial of WoW, I think I get the main idea of it, as I have played other MMOs similar to it. I have however played (and owned) Guild Wars: Nightfall.
It is completely different from WoW. The main thing I disliked about GW was the level cap: 20.
You can't get past there, and it's not like it takes all that much time to get a character there. On top of that, you can change your build (attribute points) at any point in the game, and once you reach 20, you can pretty much have the same build as any other player.
This would be okay if it were possible to get better armor or better attacks or something, but nay. There is also a armor cap, meaning once you get the highest level of armor (very easy to obtain), you can't get any better.
So basically, with about a week of gameplay, you can have the exact same character as virtually anyone else who plays that campaign of GW.
The main reason why I think people play the game is because instead of spending a ton of time making your character the best it can be, your spending your time learning how to use your character so it can beat others.
This wasn't really what I was looking for in an MMO at the time, so I only played it for a couple of weeks before ignoring it and going back to Counter-Strike: Source.
I guess you have already bought the game, and by the looks of when you posted this, you probably already know everything I just told you, but it's late and I felt like rambling.
Maybe this'll help someone else decide weather to get this game or not.
