I was wondering if the slot where the chipset is located is removable.Because i see a small yellow arrow at the bottom of the MB. (more or less saying that it's removable) is this possible ?
It's possible to remove anything from a system board. The real ptoblem getting it to work afterwards. The northbridge and southbridge chips are generally micro soldered to the board needing a surface mount kit for removing anything soldered in that manner.
The bios EProms are often removable with a special extraction tool.. If you replace one and put the new one of those in reverse it will be worthless from being cooked. The yellow line or other marking are often there for reference when the board components are originally added to the board. One or more parts has to go on in certain places with that showing assemblers where to start.
More of the newer boards by the better brands will see removable chips like the bios or the north bridge/south bridge sets. Watch out on the lower ends however since many may have soldered chipsets. The Gigabyte name is a lot newer then some of the names where that was common. You would need a surface mount kit to desolder and replace anything that went. But that's going back a few years there.
In other words, DONT TRY TO REMOVE IT. is ther a good reson, or are u just curious, Unless u have a Kit to do so, dont try as soldering is hard 2 relicate on such a small scale
