H264 video and sound playback problem

Hi am just a computer newbi.I decided to use my very old pc from the archives.all was fine except when i started playin H264 coded MP4 movie.Sound and picture do not sync.when movie starts all is fine but after a while audio becomes ahead of pic,after a while all syncs well and cycle starts all over.at some instances picture becomes slow motion.what can i do.i do have the correct codes.(FFDSHOW is installed) The PC is aged as follows, MOTHERBOARD: FOXCONN G945 INTEL: Celeron R CPU 3.06 GHz. RAM 1G . graphics: Onboard INTEL VGA driver (current version).One last question is this old pc worthwhile OR its worth the recycle bin?

They play exactly the same.other file formats have no problems.i have tried several media player and its same result.these include windows media player 11.media classic home cinema jet etc
