I have a politically charged forum that generally attracts every nut case under the sun. We were hacked recently (by what I'm told) a "hyperlink" hack. We took down the forum and updated it putting the proper patches in place but apparently (and again, this is just what I've been told) they are still in there and the only way (I guess) I can be rid of it is to wipe out the complete forum and start again from scratch. I DO NOT want to have to do that if it's at all humanly possible.
My question is how do I get rid of it? How did it happen, and how do I prevent anything like this from happening again?
My forum is an SMF 1.1.11, PHP, and using MYSQL.
