I have windows 8.1 iso so i make a bootable usb thumbdrive and started installing windows every things goes fine but when i clicked next in where do youbwant to instal windows :- "drive 0 unallocated space "
When i clicked next i shows (("we couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one.for more information ,sse the setup log file "))

Please help as i didn't know much about this!!!!

Try formatting the drive and then creating a partition on the drive in Windows setup. You do it at the same screen where it shows the drives to install Windows on.

Click on Drive Options (Advanced) and all will be revealed. ;)

Formating option is not avilable and it shows only one oprion to select which name is "drive 0 unallocated space" only "new""refresh""load drivers" option is avilable and when i click on next it show "error 0x80070017"

Don't you have a dvd drive that you can install windows with? You don't need to format or create partitions to install windows. Possibly something wrong with your usb setup. Go into the bios and see what the sata controller setting is set at. You should be using AHCI mode.

I would say it has something to do with the setup on the usb drive. Have you tried using it before?

yes I done it in my laptop and its working but this is my new build even I checked the cable connected to hard drive .I have clicked images of it but I cannot upload it ..the problem is no partition is available and it just show it cannot create it drive 0 unallocated space..

Then I have a feeling you may have a bad hard drive. You should test it with Western Digital Drive Diagnostic tool.

My hard drive is new i buid it tomorrow itself and its also making sound of spinning when i press the power button ..can u give your email or any other thing so that i could send you the screenshots i have taken ..please help my money is on the line....

Not going to give you my email. Put the images on a file sharing site such as imageshack or photobucket and post the links to the files.

I think it could be a problem with the USB drive. Try creating another Windows 8 install USB. Or get an external DVD drive and use a DVD to install Windows 8.

Failing that then it's a hard disk issue.

Have you tried Googling that error code? That could tell you what the problem is.

Just because the drive is new doesn't mean its good. You said you have used the usb install on another computer and works. Great so we can assume that its fine. However, we can't assume the hard drive is good even though its brand new. You will need to test it with Western Digitals Drive diagnostic tool. Bad sectors on the drive can cause this. My guess is still a bad hard drive or something hardware related.

Are you loading the install for Windows within Windows or from Boot? Either way, disconnect all SATA devices except for the HDD you intend to install on.

Do you get the same behavior just clicking next without making the partition?

By default Windows will just make a single partition for the entire capacity of the drive, so you don't really have to manually mess with it.

Also, that value might be larger than the drive capacity itself.
