Halo 2 Question

I looked at the box of Halo 2 for pc and it says vista required, that means you absolutely cannot play on xp? And if so do they have the xp version?

There is so XP version.
It is only for Windows Vista.
Any version of Vista will do.
I am running it on Windows Vista Home Basic.

I worded that wrong, and fixed it.

Halo 2 for the PC will only work on vista. Any version of vista is fine.

It will not work on any version of XP.
 
Aw damn they don't make a version for xp huh?

Now I have to wait a year or so to get vista so this is not fun, I was looking forward to this pwning game.

I bought Vista Home Basic OEM for like $30 at CompUSA. Going out of business sale.
 
On Newegg you should be able to get Vista for $70 too..., but I think why hpi was waiting was for the first SP1 to come out. I still think that's really dumb that they require Vista when they could easily make it XP compatible. How many other games can you think of that are compatible with Me/2000/XP, etc... Just makes me hate M$ even more...
 
Tell me about it. The graphics is really bad, it doesn't even use DX10. Its stupid to have a Vista requirement for a game, its the only game I'm aware that has that restriction.

Not the price. I can get it free, it's just I want no glitches in my OS because il snap and break my pretty new pc that I paid with my own money and I don't have a job.

Yeah now all the new AMAZING games are only gonna be compatible with Vista just to make more money and all. Damn companies take advantage of us.

Theres probably someone out there that found out how to run vista games on xp os's...

I don't think that is true, I think although there will be games that NEEDS vista to show its full potential, they will be backward compatible at the very least with XP or 2000. The number of XP users out there far outnumbers the number of Vista ones, so I don't think games developers would be so stupid as to just target a small slice of the market.
 
^^ Very true, I believe that the only games that will really be for Vista only are one that are published by Microsoft itself. They proven themselves to be the only ones dumb enough to try something like this... Not to mention their plans to make all multiplayer PC games have a surcharge for MP. That just may send me over the edge...
 
Ya I HATE it that all these games are gonna have to be payed for montly.

I pay for wow already and I hate doing it but it's to fun. I hate paying for games.

Ya that's what im saying.

Buying the actual game isn't the problem it's only normal, paying to play it is the problem.

Halo 2 for pc on the online version you have to pay monthly. I think aloottt of games are gonna become like that now.

Umm, Halo2Vista's multiplayer is free. You only have to pay for gold IF you want match making. But everyone knows that server selection is 1000 times better.

As for paying monthly for a game, its never going to happen for me. Not for pc gaming.
 
I'm very sure that there will be a work around, so XP users can run Halo 2, if there is a will there is a way. Pay as you play is not going to cut it with me.
 
I tried installing it on XP but if gave an error message (obviously).

It seems like the setup can actually run on XP, it just looks for certain files that only Vista has to make it run.
 
I am playing Halo 2 Vista on my current setup.

And it runs fine.

Its actually like an addiction now...


I want to get it hosted at my LAN party.
