handheld problem

my dad has a dell axim handheld..

he wants to install digital scout statware onto it, which is a program which allows him to keep stats on his handheld for baseball and then upload them to his computer.

when running the exe for the program, it asks "are you going to be using a palm OS handheld with this software?"

if i click yes, it says i need palm desktop v4.0 or newer. i went to the palm site and tried to find it for his handheld, but it's not available.

i know absolutely nothing about these things.. does it sound like the palm os is the only way to run the program on the handheld? if so, i think the dell uses some kind of windows os.. well actually i know this for a fact because it looks just like it.

ideads?

It is a Palm OS program... it doesn't appear to have a WinCE port, so no, it won't work.

okay, thanks.

out of curiosity, is the palm os drastically different from microsoft's?

Not only that but the hardware is totally different. I don't know if it's still so, but for the longest time, Palm's were limited to 16M. Now you could upgrade using cards, but the main system RAM was only 16 which really caused some problems. Try surfing the web when you have only 12 or so megs free :P Dad was so mad after seeing how well my axim worked online compaired to is Sony ;)
