Hard Disk Keeps Turning Off

Hello!

Once I installed a software to control my fan speed and to make my computer quiet. I didn't like the program so I unistalled it. But ever since my disks that I don't use for 20 seconds turn off or go to stand by.
So that if I'm using a software that is using some files from that disk the disk always needs to starts up. That takes like 5 seconds...and slows my work :(

How can I undo this shutting down/standing by process?

I'm using Windows 7 x64.

I've checked the advanced power option and the Turn Off Hard Disk option is set to 20 minutes.

There needs to be something else.
The installed software could maybe leave something in the Registry...?!

Hi,
The problem might be that the heatsink has collected a lot of dust already and it does not allow the air from the fan to pass freely unto the CPU. Many computers have a default setting in the BIOS that shuts off the computer automatically if the CPU reaches a certain temperature. The computer turns off to prevent the CPU from getting damaged. Try cleaning and removing any dust from the components, motherboard, heatsink, fans etc. It should help solve the problem.

That has nothing to do with his problem.

As far as my idea of a solution, maybe run CCleaner and the registry cleaner of CCleaner. Something must have been left behind.

Another solution would be to wipe the drive and reinstall windows.

Yeah, if CCleaner doesn't fix it, your best bet is to reinstall windows.

Is reinstalling windows the only option?
I have a ton of software installed.

What about Windows Repair, would that help?

A windows repair will most likely not work. There has to be something stuck in the registry causing the change.

What software did you originally install to change your fan speed?
 
Interesting that Speedfan caused this problem. I did some research but didn't find anything.
