Hi,

Whenever I shutdown or put the computer in a sleep mode, seemingly the hard drive keeps working (and the fans).....

what might be the problem?

Hard drive is:
WD640 AALS

Thanks Nizar

I put it on S1 and S3, problem never changes.

Only if I put optimized default settings it will work until next restart (not always...).

I guess it is PS, any more suggestions?

Either could be PSU or still could be the motherboard. What is your system specs as in cpu, gpu, motherboard, psu?

Video: AMD Radeon 6950 2GB
HD: Western Digital ‏Caviar Green 1TB IntelliPower, 64MB, SATA II WD10EARS‎
PS: ‏GS 700W Active PFC 14cm Fan
CPU: Intel i7 2700k 3.4Ghz Sandy Bridge
MB: ‏P67A-D3-B3 s1155 Core i3/i5/i7, Intel P67, DDR3 1333, 2xPCI-E‎

The psu should be strong enough to run the system. But even though corsair is a good brand, they still do go bad. I would try a different psu first, borrow one if you have to just to test. Also if your bios settings aren't staying then maybe you have a bad cmos battery.
