Hard disk replacement

The HD in my computer crashed, how I do not know. A friend of mine have an old desktop (window98 SE) even that the sOP is the same the brand of the computer are diferent. Can I install that HD in my system? What do I need in order to do it? Do I have to reformated or reinstall the drivers, etc. My friend do not have the lic# or any of the disk that came with his system. Please, any help!!!

it may be a good idea to reformat it, just try plugging it into your pc and see what happens! you will have to install the drivers for your hardware, unless you have exactly the same hardware , if you want to install win xp onto it just plaug the HD in and insert the win xp disk into the cd drive and install on bootup!
