Hard Disk

In intend to take my computer back to the shop becuase of a hard drive Failure, I just wanted to know what they would do with the Hard disk when i exchange the machine for a new one as I have had some confidential documents on the pc since i bought it

They will take the pc and fix it and sell it as refurbished to companies like tigerdirect/compusa. They will of course reinstall the windows image so when the new owner buys it, they will set it up how they like.

If you have data on that drive that means anything, then you should get it off the drive before taking it back.

If it was a complete harddrive failure, I dont know much you could do yourself, to get your info off before taking it back. Like hitting it with a stun gun or taser or touching it with jumper cables from a car battery would leave burn marks on it. LOL. You know somebody with a really big magnet?
