i have my hp desktop set up to back up files to "d" drive weekly. have like 12 back up folders.

i unpacked the last backup file to a folder in "c" drive. Tech support had me reformat "c" drive, so all that backed up info that was dumped is gone now. pics, documents, ect.:confused:

that back up file on "d" drive exists, but its empty.:eek::(:confused:

i havent done anything else to the drive.

using vista.

like 3 years of work n pictures in there. any suggestions?tips?advice?recommendations?

if theyt dont really ever get erased, and i havent written over anythging, can i get them back?:confused:

Did you try using the program you did the backups with to restore them?

the folder i unpacked had the latest documents, theres other files there, but no idea wjat they are or what do do??? they say back up...

used back up manager from microsoft on vista...

Try using the backup manger to restore them they may be a file asociated with that program.

what is your back up system?

I am using NT backup and ever since no problem with me. :)

in the comtrol panel, back up and restore

to seperate hard drive.

its weird, but its like the files are back on there.

best i was told was to pay hp to fix my problem over the phone withe there tech support for hire.

im really scared i lost all my stuff....:eek: years of work.....:(
