Hard drive compatibility

I've got an old hard drive (Maxtor DiamondMax 10 Model no. 6L250S0)

Im hoping to re-use it as im building a new pc, what would it be compatable with? as i've got no idea! or would it be easier to buy a new one?

Is the drive IDE or SATA? If it's IDE, then no, if SATA, then yes most likely.

May just be easier to buy a new one though.

The fact that it's a SATA drive will make it easier to use in your new build but even if it was an IDE or (PATA) drive that wouldn't preclude you using it. If your motherboard doesn't have an IDE channel built-in, you could buy a PCI card that would allow you to add that capability. Example: Koutech PIR133 PCI IDE Controller Card
