im looking to buy a Gigabyte mobo and it say'
Storage devices:
SATA 1.5 Gb/s

my question is that, i can use a the new SATA 300mb/s with this motherboard and will it dectect the HD? or i must use the older SATA version (150mbs)

hmm.. good question.. my guess would be it would just run at the 150Gb/s
and wouldnt cause trouble tough

Yes, it will be backwards compatible. It will just run at the slower speed, that's all. I doubt you would have noticed that much difference anyways.

As Kenin said, you wont notice much difference although I have from my 1.5Gbps to 3.0Gbps
