Hard Drive Crashed! Replaced it and still messed UP!

My old hard drive crashed....it was a 160 GB it came with my compaq....so i replaced it with my old 30 gb hdd from a few years back and installed windows 2000 ...it worked fine...so i ordered a new hard drive...a 400 gb seagate hdd ...so i put it in and installed windows 2000...everything worked fine....so I went out and came back and now its laggy as hell...it says CPU usage at 100%...i only have 18 processes running...the cpu usage never goes down...it shows the memory usage is not being used....whats the problem? when i right click on my desktop it takes like 30 seconds for the menu to pop up....

the 400 gb is the only hard drive in my comp right now...i took the 30 gb out as it was a temporary till my 400 gb came

Doesn sound like a HDD problem,
BUT go to task manager,
what program is stealing all your CPU?

Any of his processes aren't above like 12000k or kb? and his motherboard is manufacturer..watever it is...from compaq

Check to see what process is using the large portion of CPU not memory

the largest process is like internet explorer,...20,000k
