Hard Drive Data Transfer

I have an ASUS P5E3 Deluxe MB loaded up with 6 HDD's.

Various makes and models four 2TB drives and two 2TB Drives plugged in via sata cables. all 7200RPM drives. 1000W power supply and all in a large well ventilated Thermaltake Armour case.

The MB specs, state that the sata ports on the MB are 3GB/s transfer speed, however when transferring data from on drive to another in the server the speeds are terrible anywhere from 8-12 MB/s .

If I transfer from one of the drives to another PC on the network, I can get speeds over 100MB/s. Why can't I locally get these speeds also??

Thanks!

The hard drives are not altered or set-up in any raid formation.

the drives are plugged into the MB and I am using Win7 Ultimate x64.

How can I verify if the drives are set up in AHCI mode?

here is how I set-up the drives

Drive A - 1TB drive is partitioned, using 100GB's for OS and programs the
remaining space is used for media/data
Drive B - 1TB drive is a backup of the media/data off of Drive A
Drive C - 2TB drive contains media/data
Drive D - 2TB is a backup drive for Drive C
Drive E - 2TB drive contains media/data
Drive D - 2TB drive is a backup drive for Drive E

I used the windows 7 backup tool to create the backup onto each backup drive.

Thanks!
