this is the story... few years ago i was playing a game and the power supply died on me and the computer died. i replaced the power supply and and started the computer and no hard drive was found. so i tired to reinstall windows but still nothing. i checked connections and anything else but everything was fine. i tried to do everything on a different hard drive and it worked just fine. so my question is what is wrong with the hard drive or how can i find out? i tried data recovery but it didn't do anything since the computer cant see the hard drive...unless i did something wrong. only thing i can think of would be the circuit board is fried.. poss? any suggestions would be great. thank you in advance.

Joe, as an expert in data recovery solution, I can tell you that most likely that your pcb on the drive is shorted. Thus, that is the reason you can't access the drive no matter what you do. Two things can happen with a shorted pcb board- one, the board may be the only electrical component that went bad--depending on your hard drive's manufacture, you can just replace the board, and you got your hard drive going. The other, depending on the extent of the shorted board, the head amplifier of the hard drive might go bad also--which means, replacing the pcb board alone will not be suffice. From what you are saying, the shorted board may not be that bad-so you may be in luck in just replacing the board--Let us know what type of hard drive you have- Good luck
