Hey, I have a Mac and I need a firewire 1TB hard drive. I can either build it or just buy it, but it has to be under $300. I'm going to be using this for audio and video editing extra room (not backup) so I need it to be fast.

Thanks in advance!

Well 1tb even upto 6tb models now seen run a bit higher then most pricewise. Fortunately both Western Digital and Seagate alike offer 1tb combo interface models for use with 1394 fireware as well as eSata and usb both close to $300 pricewise. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010150414+131021336+4018+1035928161&name=USB+2.0+%2f+IEEE+1394a+%2f+eSATA

Sorry, but I was asking this because I just returned my Western Digital because i it made my hard drive malfunction. The reviews on the seagate say it's slow. What bout buying two external casings and two 500GB internal hard drives.

You may have simply had it configured wrong or you have another problem being realized. As far as external drive bays you would have to shop around a bit to see ones like those seen at http://www.wiebetech.com/products/silversata.php

Some for ide and SCSI type drives will hold 4 HDs in one case rather then having one separate for each drive added. The brand seen at the link just happens to provide 1394 as well as usb connection as an option over the usual usb type.
