hard drive format/initialization question

My motherboard failed and I need to get stuff off my harddrives. I bought an enclousure, but my other computer will not recognize it without a format/initialization.

Is there anyway to do this and save the data?

data recovery software which generally is not free. One app I use on a semi regular basis is Data Rescue II. I just used this to recovery 5 gigs of under water photos for a client of mine when someone decided to format her computer and restore Windows from the factory restore CDs on her laptop.

Try Spotmau Powersuite. A data recovery utility is bundled with it. Got decent feedback from that product about getting the job done.
