Hard Drive full - Urgent advice needed

My desktop PC has a 20GB hard drive.

It's working well although a bit slow. Not got the cash to buy a new PC,

It says that my Harddrive is 18.8GB full, however when I add up all the programmes I have this only calculates at max of 1GB.

I have no games or pictures or videos stored on my PC as these are kept on an external hard drive.

I have ran Disk Frag, Disk Clean Up etc but this only reduces it by about 200mb.

Why is my hard drive so full?

Can anyone tell me how to reduce this??

I cannot afford to buy a computer and it keeps saying I only have 300mb left and I must sort it out.

Please HELP
 
Hi Mate

I have nothing on the PC. I have emptied my recycle bin, taken off all Music, Pics, Games, etc Nothing else left on the PC other than the OS Windows XP + anti virus programme which I've never had a problem with viruses etc.
 
Disable System Restore, Run Disk Cleanup, Download one of them programs to find out where the majority of data is being held, run something like CCLEANER.

I do a weekly cleanup an get rid of all my temp files......cant remember how old my installation was but I ran ccleaner ages ago an it found over 20GB of temporary crap that i didnt need
