Hard drive heating up

My secondary hard drive on my HP laptop is heating up and going offline.
When I restart the laptop it is back online.
Wondering if I should just replace the HD now?!
Is the HD on the way out?
I am not even using it when it does it, is this normal?
cheers.

your laptop is probably just full of dust. i'd bring it back to the place where your brought it. or if you're confident, do it yourself.

Vipernitrox
the laptop is only 1 month old
to do yourself anyways just remove the back bits and use the cans of compressed air?
cheers

check if it's a firmware issue. go to the drive's firmware webpage and read up on it

you may owned have it for 1 month but was it a pre owned/opened box/store display laptop?

It was a refurbished laptop
I removed the 2nd hard drive, replaced it and jammed a bit more cardboard in it to hold it in place better.
seems to be ok now.
so wait and see over the next week.
cheers

I got bad pasttime with same problem with you. At first I just ignore it. Now, I really regret that I ignore it. The harddisk past away and My files is gone.
So, my advice to you, backup your data. You never know when your harddisk time will come...:(
