Ok back in feb, I built my self a computer, and at the time I had a tight budget(under $400, parents:rolleyes:) had used an 80gb SATA (serial ata) harddrive. Everything worked fine, intalled fast, but hten one day it started taking for ever installing most things. only some things it does not have this problem: It says intalling, but stays at the very beggining (before the 0% even shows up) for up to 30 min, sometims longer. What could the problem be??

PLEASE HELP ME IT IS SO FRUSTERATING!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like an OS issue rather than a Hard Drive one. If it were a HDD issue, you'd be experiencing more-widespread issues, not just program installations.

Do you 'take care' of the OS and not download useless stuff, Defrag every so often, and stay away from downloading and/or visit any questionable websites? Have you used your system for the same things since you build it or did you recently start doing anything different?

thanks for helping. I still use the copmuter for 1 main thing:gaming. And i dont even have that one hooked up to the internet, if i did, no i wouldnt be download "stuff"(u know hwat i mean). are you saying also maybe re-install? if you can get a differnt sulotion that would be nice...i have alot of savegames if you know what i mean.
