Hard Drive missing in My Computer

I have a hard drive thats a slave on my computer, the master works just fine. I go into device manager, and it shows that the slave hard drive is there..

In my computer, the drive is not listed. Yet I can boot to that hard drive, by switching up my boot prioity in my bios.

Any idea why windows is being stupid?

check the jumpers make sure they're not in cable select mode make sure the hard drive is in NTFS and not FAt 32 and make sure all the cables are seated...

if it's visible in device manager, then Windows sees the drive. There is nothing wrong with the jumper settings.

Windows will not mount a drive that is not formatted in a windows recognized file system.

What is the history of this drive? Is there any info you need to off of it or are you just trying to get it to work? If you just want to get it working then boot off your OS cd, tell windows to install a new copy. Accept the license agreement hit F8 (like it says) and go to the screen where it lets you choose where to install the OS.

The drive should show up there as either unpartitioned space or as some other file system. if there is something on there, highlight it and hit "delete partition".

Now that no partition exists, highlight the "unpartitioned space" and hit "create partition". Divide the drive however you want, or make it one giant partition then do a format. Once formatted, quit installation.

but it was just working :(

I see there might be a problem just reading it is all. Im going to try and "uninstall" the device, and see if it comes back.

yea, if it was working before, then it's a glitch in windows and you shouldn't have to (re)format it.

If your slave drive was originally a master drive with GoBack installed you will have to uninstall Goback first (after you make it boot drive again, of course). Have you gone into disk management and see whats listed there?
