I have been using an HP desktop with a 363 GB hard drive since 2007 and I have never really had any problems until recently. The space on my hard drive keeps disappearing, and there is barely any left to the point that I have to constantly delete files to even be able to use my computer. I downloaded a program called WinDirStat that scans everything on your computer and tells you how much space it takes up and where it's located to try and see if there were any abnormally large files. When I open the program, I have to click on my hard drive (which it says is 100% full) but when the program is finished it says there is only 40 GB being used total, and this number keeps on decreasing as I delete files, although it says it is still full. I have no idea where the other 330 GB or so have gone and have absolutely no clue what to do and really need to find a way to stop the space from disappearing before I have to start deleting crucial files. Any help is extremely appreciated!
