Hi guys,

I have a hp compaq presario v2000 laptop nad recently i have received an error on the computer.

It wont run windows anymore and i get the "Unmountable_Boot_Volume" screen.

I have loaded in the original disk that i got with my com and tried chkdsk /r in recovery console and chkdsk /p and everytme i do this it says:

The drive you entered does not exist or is not valid....

I assume this means my hard drive is not valid right?

Is it time for a new hard drive?

Any help would be much appreciated....cheers

Look at the post screen when the computer boots up, it is recognising your hard drive i.e size model?

when i go to the bios set up utility...it recognises a hard drive....it says st94019a-(pm)

dont see anything about size and model tho....

its a 40gb, hp, factory installed hdd that come with the com...if that helps

thanks for your time

Also,

when i try to reinstall windows by booting from cd, it says,

"an error occurred on atapi 38155mb when trying to install windows"

that sounds like my hdd playing up right?

cheers again
