Hard Drive Power Skipping

I have a I/O Magic 320GB external hard drive, and it has worked fine for me for about a year and a half. Recently though, since about two weeks ago, the hard drive has started to skip, and the power will randomly flicker off and then on again.

The flickering is definitely annoying, but I'm most worried by the fact that after it flickers, I can no longer access the files on the hard drive, even though the icon still appears in My Computer. I've started backing up all my songs and pictures etc. onto cds, but the hard drive sometimes won't stay stable enough for me to burn the cd before it skips again.

Does anyone know what the problem with my hard drive is, and if so, how to fix it? =/

Thaanks.

I won't even touch an I/O Magic anything! That's a low ender there probably seeing a bad card on the drive itself. Backing things up was the smart move on your part since once it goes there's not much you can do except bring it into a data recovery service and pay a good price to see whatever can be saved from it.

Instead of trying to burn data disks immediately see what you can rescue into temp folders on the host drive if you have the space there. Once on a working drive the burning process will work out far better where you can verify file integrity as well.
