Hard Drive Question

I'm hoping that someone here can help me out with this. Here's the scenario. I have an older computer that has the Windows 98SE operating system. I just bought a new computer with Windows XP Pro installed. The hard drive on the old computer contains many files that I need to transfer to the new computer.

I'm wondering if I can take the hard drive from the old computer (with win 98 installed on it) and install it as a slave hard drive in the new Windows XP computer and be able to access and transfer files from it to the new hard drive. And after that format the old hard drive and use it for storage.

Yup...just set the other drive to slave and make sure the bios is set to auto detect(which it usally is by default) In windows, you MIGHt have to go to computer management(rightclick my computer, manage, disk proporties, logical disks...or something like that) and assign a drive letter to the new HD...sometimes you do sometimes it's automatic.
 
Thank you for the info. So you don't think there will be a problem with the old hard drive having a bootable operating system on it?
