Hard drive screwed up

Just now (i'm on an other comp), when I turned on my Sony Vaio, it told me that a hard drive failure was imminent, and that I sould immediately back-up all data and replace the drive... So, if I do an exact mirror of the screwed up drive on the new drive, will my laptop be exactly the same as before, when the screwed drive worked? And does hardware, I dunno, anything, that you plug two drives into it and it mirrors perfectly drive A to drive B?
