Last week when powering down, instead of the normal 'quick' shut down, the hard drive (or maybe fan come to think of it, not sure) sounded like a jet engine slowing down. It was a gradual decrease of volume vs the 'instant' shudown is the point I'm trying to make. (not too well lol)
I haven't turned on the machine in days but last night went into the bedroom and heard rhythmics 'mini boom'. Here the PC's power and HD lights are flickering and i guess the drives were 'spinning up and down.' I didnt have time to open the case but will tonight after i plug the cord back in.
Power supply? other ideas? It's a 2 yr old antec as when i upgraded to P4 I needed a new PS. I hope it's not it as i dont have the receipt handy or know how long the warranty is.
How do you diagnose a problem like this? I've never run into anything like it before.
