Hard Drive tips.

I don't really understand this Raid Hard Drive configuration. Can anybody explain how it works please and what should I get?

for a gamer, and just gaming, I'd go gutless with a raid0 for the sheer speed. but if one harddrive dies, you lose all.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID

raid1 is two drive mirroring each other, which is what I have in most all my machines , if one drive dies, the other drive has the info mirrored onto it.

i would go with a RAID 0 and then buy sofware called ghost which takes an image of your HDD and then if your HDD fails you can reload from that it takes about 15 minuets depending on the speed of your computer (idk how much it costs)

I was going to say RAID 0 too. If you're not too worried about actual redundancy and possible loss data if there's a hard drive failure, you would do well with that.

That has nothing to do with what he is wanting to do.

uhm, someone else mentioned using ghost to back up that raid0 array since when you run something like that you increase your chances of a drive failure, even tho it increases the speed (like wow increase too yuh know)... I simply mentioned there are free alternatives to ghost so that the original poster, if they did decide to go that route, would not feel like there was no alternatives to ghost.

....

Well since it's in the same topic what would you guys pick?

1x 500 gb with 2 250 gb in raid ,or just 1 tb caviar black?

Looking for best gaming hard drive? VelociRaptor is the best one.
By the way, how much your budget is?

VelociRaptor is better than Raid?

Ever thought of an SSD (Solid state drive) hardly never fails and very good speeds since its not a head reading off a disk.

If you absolutly want a good hard drive setup put two western digital velociraptors in Raid 0. But again if one fails you lose all.

These are set-ups that would fit your gaming needs.
