Are you pressing the shift key while pressing the button? Try rebooting back into the recovery console and try again.

Also try just doing c\ with no space

done that a few times already.....still at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM> PROMPT

c/ huh???......

cd \ ..........is not recognized

cd system~1 .....

cd~ "the system cannot find the file or directory specified"[/U] (note; when i type the character here, it appears correctly but, typing in the restore screen it does not...this may not be an issue so, let's assume it is typed correctly but, just appears differently in restore)

******starting from scratch again
