How do I know what cord to buy? I have an older hard drive with 39 prongs in the main area.

Plenty of IDE enclosures around.

That being said probably worth pulling the data off if possible and then using a newer storage mechanism.

Agreed... I wouldn't trust data that is still stored on drives that run the IDE interface.
