Hard drive too full to boot system?

Hey guys,

Basically I made a rookie error and copied 300GB of video onto my laptop's hard drive and now it won't boot. I get the blue login screen but without the icon to log in and that's it. I'm running Windows 7. I'm in the middle of nowhere in France so kind of need my laptop to maintain sanity.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Use baby language!

Thank you!

Try booting to safe mode and see if you can log in. Then do a system restore back to before copying the data over.

Thanks John I'll give that a try. I managed to get it to startup repair and it's been "attempting repairs.. Repairing disk errors" for about 4 hours, I can't cancel it.
Should I let it play out or force shutdown and try restarting?

You may have to download the drive makers disk diagnostic utility to test the drive for errors. What brand is the hard drive?

It's a Dell Inspiron n5010 machine so whatever comes as default on that? I'm having trouble finding out, browsing on a blackberry is a real pain in the ass. I ran a diagnostic and got error code 0146 which is something to do with the hard drive error log. That was last night, it's been running startup repair again for the last 12 hours. Am I going to need to take it somewhere professional?

Go into the bios and see if it lists a model number for the hard drive. If you take it in, they should only charge a small diagnosing fee to test the HDD.
