how do i know what my hard drives data transfer rate is? is there some tool i can download that will scan my system and tell me? i'm pretty sure mine is 3gb/s but something else told me it was an ata-100 which i guess means 100mb/s. how do i know which mine is?

(and what is considered a fast transfer rate?

Dunno much about harddrives, but double posting isn't the best thing. I'm assuming that since it was 1 min apart it was an accident.
I think PC Wizard 2008 would tell you the information.

This was the first of the two threads replied to. But if you find a suplicate thread you can always use the delete message option in the edit button's choices.

PC WIzard doesn't display transfer rates only what make and model drive and how much drive space is used or free.

The current drive that takes the lead as far as transfer rates is the Seagate NL35 RAID 0 model. A good pair of comparison charts between different makes and models is seen at http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/02/06/wd1500ad_raptor_xtends_performance_lead/page8.html
