hello guys. now bear with me im not a big computer guy. i have an old computer that wont turn on . i have some files on the old hard drive and really need them transfered to my new computer. i really would like to have the extra memory in my new pc by installing the old drive and having 2. Its just not as easy as all the youtube videos show. there is a sata 1 and 2 on the motherboard being used by the current hard drive and looks like the cd drive . there is a slot on the motherboard for sata 3 and 4 . the power supply goes right to the hard drive .there is no extra connector for power ( on youtube a lot of people had an extra power suppy connector for an extra hard drive. i didnt really see much room for an extra hard drive. hell my old computer even had room. i have an HP s 5000 series, it is a pavilion slimline. is my computer trying to tell me something? that maybe i cant hook up an extra hard drive. do i plug in the sata cable from the second hard drive in sata 3 or 4 and then purchase a power splitter for the both ??? i hate to ask a dumb question.
some help would be great . i know i can just get a hard drive dock or a sata usb transfer kit , but id like to have the extra memory. any advice???
