hard drive transfer

to start i bought a external hardrive awhile ago and for some reason the case on it shitted out on me so i couldnt get any of the stuff off of it. i took the hard drive out of the case and tried to just attach it to a desktop and transfer that way. it said that it needed to be formated. i decided to use this hard drive for another computer that i'm making. i used repair mode on the windows boot disk to see if i can see anything on the the drive and i was able to see all the files. so now i was wondering if there is a way to transfer the files some how maybe useing a network

sure that sounds like it will work. just get both computer on a network and map the drive and copy. assuming that you're using windows OS. if the 2nd computer needs OS, just install one on it w/o formatting it.
