Hey all, New here got recommeneded by another aussie user.

anyways I am having a little delema. I receintly removed a drive from my computer for my brother to use. At the time I was dual booting windows vista and 7. however the boot sector for windows 7 ended up on the vista drive and was unable to boot win7(bootMGR Missing). Tried the online commands in command prompt which were siggested. DIdn't work Instead I did a fresh reinstall. The problem with that, is my hardrive that has windows 7 on it. Is split int two partition 1x100GB and 1X400GB. The 400GB is full with data (No OS or system files). so I reinstalled over the oldwindows 7. the install was successfull. However now I am unable to accesss the other partition full of data comes up as local disk (Q) with no showing of how full it is underneath. Simmilar to a running a drive on XP.

The exact messege the drive says is not accessable, access is denied.

(sorry to spam all this is first thread)

Try to access the partition from disk management and not an explorer window. You may need to give the drive a letter or take ownership of the drive (got admin privileges?)

For example if I put my HDD in another computer as secondary drive and tried to access folders on it, with admin rights it would ask if I wanted to take ownership, without admin rights it would deny access.

tried accessing through managment still same messege, I will try changing the letter the hard drive is set. Strangely it is set a Q which it should consdering it's the other partition and generally should be set to (E) or somehting simmilar

FIXED :D. changed drive path and sharing options for third time. it would thanks (:. would of lost 500GB worth of data

No problem, glad to hear you didn't lose any data.

Recently I formatted the hard drive I had all my backups on! Luckily the hard drive I planned on installing windows onto still had my old installation on there. So I just had to find everything
