I lost the mb in the old dell and purchsed a hp with vista, can I put the old HD in the vista machine to play the games on that drive? If so, do you use it as a dual boot or just read and play the games from the drive?

no need to dual boot, like Hanamich said you have to re-install the game.
running games directly like you want usually works on XP to XP or XP to win2k partition, but vista is a whole different story

you could dual boot. Allowing you to boot to the OS on the old Hdd and play the games that way. But the XP os wont be as efficient coz it was originally installed for a diferent machine.
Best option is to reinstall but the dual boot is an option if you dont have the original cds

Most of the games work in XP, but will they work in vista is a concern. Some were for win2k and some even below that. I have almost all of the disks. Maybe I could keep all the games there and not use up the new resources of the new computer. Will be back to ask how to set up the drive if I decide the programs will not work to well in vista.

Thanks
